Golf Holiday Information Guide
Location & Attractions: Your first consideration should be the type of location in which you want to base your golfing holiday. For you the main attraction is the golf, but what about the other members of your party? Perhaps they want a beach holiday, a ski holiday or just somewhere they can relax and chill out, or perhaps go shopping. If you choose your golf destination carefully you can get what you want and give them what they want at the same time! There are plenty of golf courses by the sea for instance in places like Portugal, Spain and Cyprus. Ski locations in the French Alps and in Switzerland have quality golf courses as well. Basically, when you start to look around, you'll be able to find a golf course that is in the right location for everybody.
Accommodation: What accommodation suits your needs and how close to the golf course do you want to be? If you want to be right on the course you can rent a villa or apartment overlooking a fairway or green. Some courses have hotel accommodation on offer. Normally, you will find a range of accommodation at each golf course to suit any sort of budget. You can sometimes get reduced entry or free entry to the golf course too with your golf accommodation package.
Closest Airport & Transfer Time: Another consideration is how close your golf accommodation is to the airport. Some golf courses can be a good two or three hour drive from the nearest airport. Others may only take 5 or 10 minutes for the transfer. If you are taking your own golf clubs and you are travelling independently of a tour company make sure that you hire a car at the airport that is big enough to accommodate passengers and your golf clubs.
Golf Course Facilities: Check out the facilities in the golf club and on the course. Does it have everything you need? Things to look out for are the complexity of the course, equipment hire, driving range, practice greens and clubhouse facilities. |
